TALKING ABOUT SOGAMOSO.

TALKING ABOUT SOGAMOSO.

Sogamoso it´s a small city; It is in the middle-east of the country, Colombia, at the northeast of the capital city, Bogotá. It is one of the biggest and most important cities in the department of Boyacá. It´s on the river Chicamocha also called river Sogamoso. It is about three hours and half from Bogotá. It has about 150.000 inhabitants. It´s famous for steel and cement industry, the muiscas or chibchas, the cyclists, and because it was "the gateway access to the eastern plains”. It is known as the City of the Sun and Steel.

Sogamoso has an important industrial area. It has more than one festival; the most important is the Festival of the Sun and Steel, on July. It has one of the most important archaeological museums in the country. Sogamoso is surrounded by many villages, which are part of the Province of Sugamuxy, (Sogamoso is the capital of the Province), and the tourism around these is very important for the city.

Sogamoso is a peaceful place to live; it is unpolluted, even though some people think that it is one of the most polluted cities in the country. It is an industrial and commercial city. It is not a noisy city, it is quiet and clean. It´s a cosmopolitan city, and although there are a lot of people from different places of Colombia, we are all "Sogamoseños" of heart, we are all from there.

Which is my favourite place there? All of them, every place where I lived in, all the places I knew, if I had to choose, the countryside would be my favourite place, the grass fields, the fresh air, the trees, the flowers, the animals, the clouds in the spectacular blue of the sky, a perfect and wonderful night, dark and full of stars.
The place I like least? None, I really love whole Sogamoso.
Which are the best things there? People, my friends, people there always have a smile for you; weather, it isn´t cold, it isn´t hot, it is warm and it´s perfect; the sky, I love and miss a lot the sky in Sogamoso, astronomical observation there is amazing.
Which is the worse? Maybe that although it´s now a city with a lot of things, it is not the capital city, and some things are needed and there aren´t; Sogamoso doesn´t have a good book store, a real one, that´s awful (for me); It doesn´t have a cinema, neither. But things are changing now and Sogamoso is growing up day by day, step by step, and has more things now than before, and in a near future will have many more things.
